Quick question - my current contactor is fla of 32 and res of 40. LRA 150 Can I put one on there that's a little higher? IE FLA 40 and RES of 50, LRA 250? All the other numbers match like 24v, and 240vac

I have a Gen 1 Nest thermostat that i self installed to a circa 1994 York natural gas furnace and central AC unit. I just had everything replaced with a Bryant furnace and Mitsubishi heat pump. The installer removed my Nest and said the heatvpump has to use the basic (and dumb) thermostat from Mitsubishi. Can i use a Nest thermostat with this new heatpump setup? Doni need to upgrade to the most recent version?

Thx for the great report. I put a Hisense unit in my SE Wisconsin basement for the summer and in one day it took a lot of the moisture out of the area. I should have done it the year before. I believe it is a healthier environment to inhabit. I don't mind emptying the bucket on a daily basis.

I just took a whole semester on gauges in less than an hour...I can clearly understand everything you explained without a doubt....Next course for me will be on how to vacuum the system to release the refrigerant....Thank you so much

Maybe the moisture from your shower caused this LED device to fail prematurely.

I highly recommend commercial electric LED trims from HD if you want decent-budget LED trim kits. My parents have had them for over 10 years and they are still going strong.

Bonded vs floating neutral What does it mean? Bonded means that the power returning back to the generator (neutral) is connected to the ground of the generator via a wire or to a metal part that’s grounded. Floating means that the power returning to the generator (neutral) is not connected to the ground of the generator via a wire or to a metal part that’s grounded. Pro of being bonded: A short circuit with trip a fuse, stopping the flow of electrical flow immediately. Con of floating. Electricity will continue flowing in the case of a short circuit. Power will continue flowing through the frame. Even If a ground rod is connected current will still flow and cause electrical shock if touched. Though floating generators have fuses, they only work during an overload.

I am installing Siemens Surge Protector (FPSD140-140KA) to the outside Main Panel next to the meter. The Neutral wire and Grounds are tied together. The Siemens Surge Protector installation, the unit must be installing into speparate Neutral and ground. Do you have any recommendation.

WOW great Pros & Cons but the Pros out way the Cons

Unfortunately most residential portable dehumidifiers these days are cheaply made in China, regardless of the brand name on the unit. Poor quality, no safety features such as automatic shutoff due to low pressure ( as in refrigerant leaked out), etc. I've owned several over the years, with different brand names, and they all failed within one to three years. Two were actually involved in recalls because many had caught fire when the refrigerant leaked out and the unit kept running until it became hot enough to ignite. Don't fall for the brand name scam; many things these days that have old American brand names are actually made in China and are not worth taking home.

I need advice / direction. Here are the facts: 1) my home was built in 2007 2) it is two story with basement 3) I currently have two "traditional" (R22) hvac systems: one for basement and first floor. The other for second floor. 4) I think the second story mini split should be straight forward. My concern is the first floor minisplit install. Is there any way to leverage my current duct work to avoid having a "cassette" hanging on the wall? 5) are there any other pieces of info that would be helpful let me know. Thanks!

I would suggest putting one above the shower that’s rated for high humidity. Or maybe look into doing a conformal coating yourself on the one in the shower. Just dont put the coating over the LED’s, just on the PCB, and around the LED’s to the PCB. It cold have been the humidly (and soap and stuff with it) that built up and caused that arc.

LED’s may last a long time, but the components and capacitors in the power supply for the LED’s probably wont last nearly as long with cheaper brands. Most of my LED light failures are capacitors. And sometimes because the heat disappoint wasn’t good and the PCB and components got too hot. Electronics and heat are not friends. So in most cases you hope more expensive fixture use better thermals and component, but that’s not always the case, just in half the case. But you can almost grantee the cheaper ones use cheaper components. They have to cut that cost somehow.
